School Of Athens

Art can be a mirror of society by the way it is painted. the paint itself gives the painting an whole new picture. For example in this painting Raphael has used oil paints to create a more realistic look. Also this was a new discovery that all the artists could use to give their paintings a realistic look. Another factor that helped make a piece of art a mirror image of the society are the different techniques of painting. Some of these techniques are, anatomical accuracy, light and shade, focal point, background, vanishing point.etc.The background of a painting shows what the painter knows about or is inferring where this certain scene is taking place. The vanishing point is the first technique that gave the background depth and the actual point creates a bit of questioning about what could be on the other side. Anatomical accuracy was used only after people actually knew about the human body and it's function. this technique created a better portrait of the human body which was to scale and of what the painter sa in his head.

If I had a choice to put myself in the painting of "the school of Athens" I would say I would put myself as Athena. Athena, the goddess of justice, skill, the arts, wisdom and war. She was the favorite daughter of Zeus( in my case my father). Athena was a very logical person although she was born as a goddess. In this painting Athena is speculating over the scientific people of the painting who are discussing interesting topics. Like Athena, I am very wise with my desicions and I don't like seeing injustice in the world around me. Unlike Athena I don't hold a special power or think only practically. I think practical when necessary but not always. I prefer thinking abstract to get my mind moving more. I also enjoy reading and listening to people who have made a difference and would like to do something like that. Because I have no supernatural power I can't just change everything, so I have to continue to make small differences.

This song is about a devotie of lord narayana who goes against the wishes of the king of that area. In punishment the king orders his followers to to hook the man and elevate him in the sky. After that the kings takes the man to the seashore and makes the mans son carry a pot of kerosine around him and the statue of the god. Then the man is chained to the statue and carried out to sea to be thrown in. the man drowns and dies. This trancends the message of connecting to god because he was connected to his god and never gave up. This event was taken place a long time ago. I am not sure when this happened. the video below is from a movie with this event in it. this event trancends in time because there are still people who are really connected to god but they do not punish people like this anymore. This trancends in the huindu culture in India because the people who are hindu in India and lived there whole life here were brought up to believe in god.

The True Renaissance Man

There is only 1 image that I found was extremely interesting. This picture is of the Mona Lisa but, the picture I am talking about is the original Mona Lisa. This picture was retrieved from the picture that we see now. A scientist was looking at and realized that this was not the real color, so he set out on a journey to find the true color of the Mona Lisa. The original picture is so beautiful but how did it turn so GREEN???????This happened because of the paint. This shows me that Leonardo Da Vinci was the first person to paint a person who was looking at you. This tells me that Leonard was a very curious explorer and mostly succeeded in his explorations.

keep faith

destiny.....

Destiny strides over the dunes.
Draped in her Satin ensemble.
Her pearl like eyes,
Seeking a valiant soul to lead!

In Paolo Coelho's The Alchemist I feel that the main idea that is passed on is faith. Faith is shown in the book many times, for example when Santiago was thinking that there was no way he could find a treasure or even travel to The Egyptian Pyramids!! Then came Melchizedek who helped Santiago to build up his faith in himself. Melchizedek also tells Santiago that not to offer someone something you don't have. This main idea is present in many cultures, such as Hinduism. In Hinduism people who are very very attached to god will accept that everything that happens to them is because of god's choice. Also some devoties, when they get sick don't consult a doctor but keep faith in god, that god will forgive them for their doing. Also in the oldern Hinduism times especially in South India people were made protecters of their village god. thy all had faith in the protector that he would keep the god safe. i beilieve that if you keep faith in yourself and god you can do anything you want.

Accepting The Change

Chase your change.

“It is true that everything has its destiny, but one day that destiny will be realized.” (Coelho 143). In The Alchemist Santiago, a young shepherd boy leaves his home in the fields of Andalusia, Spain in search of his destiny. He overcomes many obstacles and decides what to do in times when he has to make the right decisions to move on and realize his destiny. During his journey he meets many noble people whose life stories make him realize what he must do. Santiago attains his destiny through being adventurous, through good judgment and through spirituality.

Before he began this expedition to pursue his destiny, the adventure hormones acted since he was a little boy, he was put through a choice of being a priest or a shepherd. Being such an adventurous boy he decided it would be more fun to be a shepherd since he can roam the world, as stated in this quote: “but I want to see the castles in the town where they live.” (pg. 8) this was the first boost that Santiago had gotten to realize that being a shepherd was the best way to ensure that he can travel and encounter new places in his journey. Also this so called “boost” was given to him by the king of Salem, Melchizedek. He tells Santiago about the principal of favorability. This really brings up Santiago's chances of attaining his destiny, which is another boost for him to continue the adventure of his life as stated in this quote: “Melchizedek watched a small ship that was plowing its way out of the port. He would never again see Santiago as he had never seen Abraham again after having charged him his one – tenth fee.” (pg. 31) the need for adventure and curiosity is very crucial for him to realize/ follow his destiny to where it leads him which most people are afraid to do.

Throughout his journey Santiago has to make many decisions that affect the path he is following to attain his destiny. Most of these decisions were already decided in his mind. For example when Santiago met the crystal merchant he had told the merchant that he will help him sell his crystals until he will have enough many to travel to Egypt, and then leave the merchant and proceed his journey. Also there were some decisions that were decided immediately but then changed. ‘“Before this, I always looked to the dessert with longing.” Said Fatima. “Now it will be with hope.”’ This quote is when Santiago had finally decided, out of a lot of reasoning, that he would leave Fatima and continue his journey. Santiago made a good decision to leave Fatima and continue his journey because he was able to attain his destiny by doing that. Making good decisions was a tough and easy task for Santiago to do throughout his journey to attain his destiny.

Throughout Santiago’s journey he has learnt to be more spiritually connected to the Soul of the World. This is because to realize his destiny he must first realize the Soul of the World. Also if he weren’t spiritual at all he would never even believe that there was something called a destiny. “The boy reached through to the soul of the world, and saw that it was part of the soul of god. And he saw that the soul of god is his own soul. And that he as, a boy, could perform miracles.”. Santiago began to realize that spirituality was important to attain his destiny since Melchizedek had told him about his destiny (the exact words of the gypsy women). Santiago also improved in being spiritual from the alchemist because he made Santiago do so many activities that had a spiritual touch to them. Santiago was spiritual because he needed to connect with the soul of the world.
Santiago commenced his journey in the fields of Andalusia, Spain and continues under the boiling sun in the Sahara desert, and eventually stops at the ruins of a church buried under a sycamore tree. Here is where Santiago finds the treasure and finally achieves his destiny. Santiago was able to fulfill his destiny because he was fearless, he made good decisions and he was always spiritually connected to god. After his journey around Africa Santiago is not what he was before the journey. He became a mature, wise, spiritually connected young man who has found love, treasure and found himself. Therefore, Santiago’s story is sending a message of courage. Everyone can attain their destiny, as long as they have courage to chase their change.

Care To Give

My special trait that allows me to attain my destiny is kindness towards living things. At the moment I want to be a veterinarian (vet) because I love to serve animals and love to take care of them. My sister tells me that I should first learn how to care for animals then do it, but i think that I should do what I can for animals now and improve on it after and during studies. Examples of my kindness is when no one out of my family took care of our family cat when it returned wounded from a fight. I stepped up and helped the cat feel more comfortable and snug. Another example was in ISKL when i saw one cat with a cold, and missing an eye. I called the SPCA and asked them to come pick up the poor cat. I think if I kept this loving nature going on then i can successfully attain my destiny.

Which Is Best?

Which is best? Democracy or Monarchy. I think...................................................... I don't know!!!!! I think both are really good. Monarchy is good, only if the king is sensible, unlike king john. I also think that Democracy is good because the people are not forced into doing something they don't want to do. But wait what if we mix them both together, that would create...........................MONOCRACY!!!!!! Monocracy is when there is a king that will do or try to fulfill the wishes of his country's people. I think this is good because the king has all most all the power but he is not higher than the wills of a citizen or a group of citizen's wanting to change something

Essential Questions

A peaceful country, owning allot of land. neighboring country is jealous. the neighboring country then says 'we need war'. what does the peaceful country do? well, of course they will need to get their army ready! all the people must be evacuated to a safer place. the weapons must be polished and be ready to use against there up coming danger. but............. what if the peaceful country loses it's precious land? then what will happen? all the people will be homeless. shame will spread all across the peoples heart. this hasn't happened yet. still the people of the peaceful country could loose part of their land. this would cause buildings to be taller than normal because there is not much space on the ground or it even lead to living in large homes and drive flying cars!!!!!!
